I always try to explain to other dog-owners why they shouldn’t feed their dogs commercial dog food but 90% of the time the answer is: but I buy the most expensive brand – that must be good… Well, it’s not. Why? Because it isn’t natural. Dogs need a little bit of everything and not some dry, smelly stuff – day in and day out. And don’t get me started on canned food!
OK, I’m going to be honest with you – a few years ago I was one of those dog owners as well! I thought if I buy Eukanuba or Nutro Choice I do my dog some good. I changed my mind after I started researching! (and because a friend of mind never gave up lecturing me on how I should feed my doggie, thanks Juanita!
) Personally I don’t care anymore what they write on their labels, I mean look at your dogs bowl tomorrow evening and tell me if you can see the chunky meat and the fresh veggies.
Another advantage of feeding your dog fresh produce are articles like the following one where lots of dogs died after eating commercial dog-food from Optima.
