What did I “cook” for my dog last night?!
2.05.09 # 19:33 # Nutrition, Recipes # 2 CommentsHe got some organic heart-mince from the butcher, some fresh, blended carrots and a raw egg – all mixed together = done! You could decorate it with some parsley, if you wish
… Ok, seriously: a dinner like that contains lot’s of good things for your dog. Especially the carrots. Most people forget about the fact that a dog is an omnivore – they will east anything! Ergo: they need everything and they need it RAW!!!!! So rule NO.1 (many shall follow): don’t feed them any cooked meat or veggies. It might not necessarily be bad for your dog but it isn’t good either. Only raw food gives them the minerals and vitamins they need.

I just cant do it, I’m sorry…I MUST cook the chicken to give it to my dog. He’s a 13 year old Standard Poodle and since he’s been getting diarrhea a lot lately, even the Merrick can’s are not working out, he’s not so into it anyway the way he was, The Vet said cook him up some chicken and rice. I boiled Murray’s hormone and antibiotic free organic chicken legs and thighs, de-boned them and cooked organic brown rice in the broth from the boiled chicken. cooled it down, gave him diner and put the rest for the week in the fridge. I added carrots to the 2nd batch. he LOVES it! gobbles it up. I also out in some plain yoghurt and acidophilus. His stool is PERFECT, he is invigorated and playful again and breaking down the cost tells me this is costing me a LOT less than buying food for him. If he seems super hungry, I give him some of the dry food too. Also sometimes I add a bit of the dehydrated powder from Honest Kitchen. I wish I had done this YEARS ago.
Hi Eve… Thanks for your comment and sorry that it took me so long to get back to you. If your dog is already 13 I think your diet is good. I mean at the end it is about your dog and as long as he is happy – all good!
I guess my dog wouldn’t mind some nice cooked organic chicken with brown rice and carrots either
… And it is so much better and as you already said cheaper then buying commercial food!!!
